Xur

Start with one profile.

Xur runs on a Bazzite host. Its web manager brings GPU workloads, desktops and maintenance together.

Before you install

You need a UEFI-capable x86-64 computer, Internet access and a target disk of at least 64 GiB. Plan additional space for models, games and container images. Check the release notes for the hardware and installation paths tested in that release.

Installation erases the selected disk. Back up its data first. Xur is in early development; keep recovery media available.

Install and sign in

Device setup runs in the server console. The web manager and Tailscale become available after installation and reboot.

  1. Open Download Xur for the online installer and Rufus USB instructions. Boot in UEFI mode.
  2. In Setup and installation, save the server name. Setup moves directly to Ethernet or Wi-Fi; choose Continue to disk selection when ready. The console starts without waiting for internet; downloading Bazzite requires internet.
  3. Choose a disk, review its identity and the erase plan, then choose Yes to confirm erasure (No is the default). Reboot when installation completes. Wi-Fi credentials and saved networking persist.
  4. Open the installed console's HTTPS address on port 8443, accept this machine's self-signed certificate and enter the console access code. Create the required administrator account in your browser. Use Chrome's suggested strong password or your password manager and save it. Subsequent logins use this account.

For static IPs or a USB-supplied setup code, follow Network settings and answer YAML. The answer file does not approve disk installation.

Create a profile

  1. Open Profiles and create a profile with a descriptive name.
  2. Add a workstation, model or container. Select its recipe and GPUs. Each GPU belongs to one workload at a time.
  3. Save the profile, return to Home and load it.

Independent workloads start in parallel. If one fails, successful workloads stay available. Read the failed action's error before using Resume. Cancel change stops queued work and lets actions already claimed finish; it does not undo completed changes.

Find your way around

Home holds update, reboot and profile controls. Monitoring shows resource use. Workstations manages desktop identities and streaming. Files browses storage and workstation homes. Settings holds time, access and backup options.

For remote management, authorize the host under Tailscale and use its HTTPS Serve address. Keep setup codes, QR codes, API keys and personal addresses out of public screenshots.

Manage files and time

Open Files and choose Storage files or Workstation files. Use breadcrumbs, sorting and filters to find items. Row menus provide downloads, streamed ZIP archives, rename/move and confirmed deletion. Folder sizes are cached separately from directory listings; refresh a size when needed. Storage shows filesystem free space and SSD TRIM status.

In Settings, choose a manual timezone or Automatic with its refresh button. Automatic uses the server's public IP location and retains the previous zone if lookup fails. New NTP settings default to Cloudflare. Reload running workloads to apply a timezone change throughout their processes.

Switch profiles

Choose Switch profile in Xur's navigation, or press Ctrl + Alt + P while the web manager has focus. Hold an Xbox controller's View + Menu buttons for one second to open the picker. Select a profile, review its workloads and choose Load profile. Workstations also provide Xur profile switcher in the Plasma launcher, with configurable shortcuts; sign in once with the administrator account. See the profile guide for setup and controller limits.
